Governance

FFAF is governed by a 6 member board known as the Board of Directors composed of dedicated individual volunteers of diverse professional backgrounds to ensure diversity and professionalism in its operations. The organisation actively and effectively engages the service of the board in providing policy direction and financial management oversight responsibility to the general operations of the secretariat and programs implementation. Profiles of some of the directors include:

Kofi Anokye Owusu-Darko

Kofi Anokye is a Registered Organisation Development Practitioner with the OD Institute, USA. He is also a Chartered Banker, a Chartered Administrator, a licensed Management Consultant and a Certified International Professional Manager (IPMA-UK). He holds Post Graduate Diplomas in Organisation Development (UCC/OCIC, UK), Banking Operations & Payments (Vanderbuilt University, USA) and in Financial Management (ACCA-UK), an Executive MBA in Information Technology Management (PGSM-France), and LLM in Information Technology & Telecommunication from the Glasgow School of Law (University of Strathclyde).

He was a management member of Accra Hearts Of Oak Sporting Club Ltd that won the Ghana premiership championship during the 2006/2007 league season and a member of the reconstituted Interim Management Committee (IMC) of the Club that was to oversee the management of the club for both the 2007/2008 Ghana premiership league season as well as the club’s participation in the CAF African Club Championship. He later resigned as a member of the IMC to set up the foundation.

As a management member of Accra Hearts Of Oak Sporting Club Ltd –one of the two top clubs in Ghana-, he held two portfolios-head of player welfare and youth development. This made him chairman of Auroras (the youth club) and brought him very close to the challenges facing youth development and footballers in Ghana taking Accra Hearts Of Oak Sporting Club Ltd as a case. He has had first hand experience and in-depth knowledge at a high level in club administration in Ghana with respect to player welfare and youth development. He understands the challenges faced by the footballers and determined to add value to their lives. His passion is in the development of the footballer as a stakeholder and a priceless asset in Ghana football.

Jophiel Nyemitei

Jophiel is a Banker by profession and holds an MBA in strategic management (PGSM-France). He is currently the Managing Director of African Legacy Finance Limited.

He was a management member of Accra Hearts Of Oak Sporting Club Ltd that won the Ghana premiership championship during the 2006/2007 league season and qualified the club to represent Ghana in the CAF African Championship for 2007/2008. As a management member of Accra Hearts Of Oak Sporting Club Ltd –one of the two top clubs in Ghana-, he was in charge of finance and introduced for the first time the valuation of players as part of the balance sheet.

Jophiel’s drive of improving the lives of the youth in football has seen him personally contributing towards the development of the youth side of Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club.

Auberon Jeleel Odoom

Jeleel is a Registered Organisation Development Practitioner with the OD Institute, USA. He is also a trained development practitioner. He has significant knowledge and experience in Management for Development Results (MfDR) Planning, Participatory Planning Processes, Appraisal of Interventions and Budgets, Networking, and Setting up Monitoring & Evaluation Systems. He is a webmaster (New Jersey Institute of Technology), and has certification in Java Programming (Massachusetts Institute of Technology).

Jeleel holds a postgraduate diploma in Organisation Development (OD) from the University of Cape Coast/Organisation Capacity Improvement Consultants (UK). He is a strong nationalist and a committed development practitioner. One of the biggest challenges facing Ghana’s NGO community is in delivering measurable improvements to the lives of the communities they serve. The will may be there but if the structures to build capacity, develop strategies, and secure funding are not in place, lasting change can never be achieved. This is the expertise and skills Jeleel brings to board.”

Nuhu Anyetei Cofie

An Electronic Technician by profession, Nuhu started his juvenile football career with Soccer Missionaries Football Club of Abossey Okai a suburb of Accra (Ghana) in the early 80’s. He later played for the following clubs:

• Mighty Survivals F/C - 3rd Division
• Supper 18 F/C - 2nd Division
• Young Wise F/C - 1st Division

Due to the passion he had for football especially the development of youth football he decided to go into coaching. He attended a national soccer coaching preliminary course and passed out successfully with a certificate. He then began with Revenue Stars and later joined a Top Stars a colts club all in Accra (Ghana).

He then joined the technical club of Auroras F/C as assistant coach (the youth side of one of Africa’s club champions Accra Hearts of Oak F/C). This he has been doing without salary as voluntary work.

Ibrahim Otoo

A fireman by profession, Ibrahim started his juvenile football career whilst a student of Kaneshie Secondary Technical School with CYO Football Club at Mateheko a suburb of Accra (Ghana). He later played for the following clubs:

• Palm Fire F/C - 2nd Division (Head Coach)
• Kwabibiriem F/C - 1st Division

Due to the passion he had for football especially the development of youth football he decided to go into coaching and obtained a preliminary soccer coaching certificate

His coaching career has been with the following:

• Me and You F/C - Colts (Laryea Kingston of the Black Stars and Hearts F/C of Scotland was then a juvenile player)
• Top Stars F/C - Under 12, Under 14, Under 17
• Top Stars F/C - 3rd Division
• Palm Fire F/C - 2nd Division (Head Coach)
• Seven United F/C - 1st Division (Head Coach)

ADMINISTRATION AND MANAGEMENT

FFAF has a central secretariat at Kwashieman with a qualified and experienced Staff to facilitate general administration and management of programs. The organisation also has about 19 volunteers.
